Vice President, Jeremiah Kpan Koung, has called for the adoption of soft diplomacy as the country works to strengthen its bilateral relations with the Guinea.
In a recent statement delivered on the state-owned Liberian Broadcasting System (ELBC), the Vice President emphasized that “soft diplomacy is the way out,” underscoring the importance of dialogue, unity, and peaceful engagement in maintaining stable and constructive ties between neighboring states.
VP Koung noted that Liberia must prioritize cooperative and non-confrontational approaches in its foreign relations, particularly with Guinea, to promote mutual understanding and expand opportunities for economic collaboration.
While acknowledging that political tensions may arise, he stressed the need for both countries to focus on shared interests and long-term regional stability.
The Vice President also advocated for a more inclusive and transparent diplomatic process, calling for open communication and respect for national sovereignty.
According to him, Liberia’s foreign policy should be anchored on principles of peace, cooperation, and mutual benefit.
The VP added that such an approach would position Liberia as a constructive player within the region, capable of navigating complex dynamics while strengthening ties with its neighbors and preserving its independence.
His remarks reflect a broader vision of fostering peace and sustainable development across West Africa.
