The Association of Liberian Journalists in the Americas (ALJA) has announced the resignation of its Secretary-General, Success A. Minor, who has stepped down from one of the organization’s highest elected offices, citing personal reasons that require his full attention.
In a formal resignation letter addressed to ALJA President Joey Kennedy, Minor stated that his decision takes immediate effect following what he described as careful reflection and consideration.
The announcement marks a significant leadership transition for one of the largest professional organizations representing Liberian journalists across the United States, Canada, and other parts of the Americas. ALJA has long served as a platform for promoting press freedom, ethical journalism, professional development, and collaboration among Liberian media practitioners living abroad.
In his resignation letter, Minor expressed deep appreciation to President Kennedy, the National Executive Committee, and the Association’s membership for the trust and confidence placed in him during his tenure.
“Serving as Secretary-General has been a tremendous honor and privilege,” Minor wrote. “The opportunity to serve ALJA has been both professionally rewarding and personally fulfilling.”
Throughout his tenure, Minor worked closely with the Association’s leadership to strengthen institutional governance, promote professionalism within the Liberian media community, encourage greater member participation, and uphold the core values of ethical journalism and public service.
Although he is relinquishing his executive responsibilities, Minor emphasized that his relationship with the Association remains unchanged.
“My commitment to the growth and success of ALJA remains unwavering,” he stated, reaffirming that he will continue serving as an active and committed member dedicated to advancing the organization’s mission and objectives.
Minor also thanked members of the National Executive Committee and the wider ALJA membership for their cooperation, friendship, and unwavering support throughout his period of service.
He extended his best wishes to President Kennedy and the Association’s leadership as they continue implementing programs aimed at strengthening Liberian journalism within the diaspora.
The resignation concludes Minor’s tenure as Secretary-General while underscoring his intention to remain actively engaged in promoting the interests of Liberian journalists across the Americas.
