Gbarpolu County Senator Amara Konneh has called on National leaders to reflect more on the national healing process of Liberia.

According to him, Liberia’s story over the period is sad as such requires honesty and hard work to help address the issue.

Speaking at the opening of a national gathering, Senator Konneh said Liberia can’t relent on the journey of self discovery but the people and national leaders should be honest and reflect, questioning each other if the nation and its people has learned from the bitter history.

Liberia he stated will be 178 years in few weeks, yet Liberia is still discovering itself.

He admitted that it has been a difficult journey but was quick to appreciate all partners in Liberia for helping the process.

The Gbarpolu County lawmaker also encourage his colleagues to see the need to continue to support the works and operations of the office of the Establishment of War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia especially with the necessary resources which he said will be the biggest thing to do for the nation.

Speaking further Senator Konneh stressed that everyone has a bitter experience of the Civil conflict in Liberia but Liberians should not allow their emotions to take over their thinking.

“We should not influence the process politically, we should not target people because of personal issues but should follow the due process”, he re-emphasized.

Narrating his story, he indicated that his small town in Gbarpolu was also affected by the war witnessing a massacre where over one hundred people were dumped in a river.

According to him, the war crimes court is personal to him.

He encouraged all actors and stakeholders to engaged each other in order to make the process work aimed at helping to discover the potential that Liberia holds.

Senator Konneh at the same time commended President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for his recent national apology to the Country for the Civil crisis especially for the lost of lives which he stated is belated but welcoming.

According to him, it requires courage and leadership to take such decision that was taken by the Liberian leader recently.
