Guangzhou, China – The Southern Medical University (SMU) has proudly announced the appointment of Mr. Samuel Babajuah, a distinguished Liberian, as one of its 15 new Alumni Ambassadors. Mr. Babajuah is a Master’s Candidate at the Institution and is expected to graduate by 2026. This prestigious role allows him to represent alumni from 11 countries across the globe, showcasing the university’s commitment to fostering international connections and collaboration among its graduates.

Southern Medical University is a provincial public medical university in Baiyun, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. Formerly a military-affiliated medical university, the institution was transferred to the Guangdong Provincial People’s Government and became a provincial public university in 2004.

Mr. Babajuah will serve as the official Alumni Ambassador to Liberia for four years, from July 11, 2025, to July 10, 2029. This appointment not only honors his exceptional commitment to the SMU community but also acknowledges his leadership and ongoing contributions to the institution.

In his new capacity, Mr. Babajuah will play a crucial role in supporting and advocating for the interests of Liberian students and graduates of SMU. He aims to foster a robust network that encourages professional and academic collaboration among alumni. His responsibilities will include acting as a vital liaison between the SMU administration and its alumni in Liberia. He is expected to facilitate the promotion of educational opportunities, celebrate individual and collective achievements of alumni, and enhance the university’s global presence.

“This is a significant honor for me, and I am deeply committed to representing SMU and the vibrant community of Liberian alumni and students,” said Mr. Babajuah, reflecting on his new role and the responsibilities it entails.
