Montserrado County District 10 Representative Yekeh Kolubah has sparked a fresh political debate after sharply criticizing Liberia’s opposition bloc, describing some of its members as “irresponsible looters” while signaling a potential willingness to support President Joseph Nyuma Boakai under certain conditions.

Rep. Kolubah in a statement questioned the credibility and readiness of opposition figures, warning that he may withhold his support if he decides not to contest the presidency.

He argued that some individuals within the opposition lack the seriousness required to govern effectively and appear driven by personal interests rather than national development.

“If I don’t contest for the presidency, I might not support the opposition because there are irresponsible people who are not serious; they just want to come and loot the resources of this country,” Kolubah noted.

Amidst his criticism, the District number 10 representative acknowledged the fluidity of political alliances, suggesting that his stance could shift depending on the alternatives available.

He indicated that backing President Joseph Nyuma Boakai remains a possibility if opposition contenders fail to present a more viable option.

“Do you think because I criticize Mr. Boakai I can’t support him?, It’s not impossible. If those seeking to replace him are worse, I will support him to remain,” he added.

The remarks come at a time of increasing political positioning ahead of Liberia’s next electoral cycle, noting the deepening divisions within the opposition and raising questions about coalition unity.
