As part of its nationwide campaign, The Office for the Establishment of War and Economic Crimes Courts in Liberia (OWECC-L) will commence its Montserrado County Outreach Rollout on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
The initiative is expected to mark another significant milestone in OWECC-L’s ongoing nationwide awareness campaign.
According to OWECC-L, The latest phase in Montserrado County follows successful outreach activities in Nimba, Grand Gedeh, River Gee, Grand Kru, Maryland, Grand Bassa, and Margibi Counties.
During the process, residents, participants alike and local stakeholders expressed strong support for the establishment of the War and Economic Crimes Court and the Anti-Corruption Court.
Since launching its outreach efforts in July 2025, the OWECC-L national outreach team has collaborated with key partners including traditional leaders, youth and women’s groups, civil society organizations, and local government officials to promote inclusive public participation in the transitional justice process.
Among other things, The Montserrado County rollout will feature a range of community engagement activities, including:
Town hall meetings, Radio talk shows, Community dialogues and Interactive sessions.
OWECC-L stated that these events are designed to ensure that all Liberians regardless of background fully understand the role of these courts in promoting peace, integrity, and accountability across the nation.
Importantly, the outreach campaign will also serve as a platform for citizens to share their perspectives and provide recommendations on how the courts can best serve the Liberian people.
At the same time, OWECC-L pledged its firmed committment to a transparent, inclusive, and participatory process that strengthens Liberia’s justice system and builds a lasting culture of accountability.
Meanwhile , The Office continues to urge all Liberians to engage constructively as the country moves closer to establishing these historic institutions aimed at ending impunity and advancing sustainable peace.
