Madam Davidetta Browne Lansanah, Chairperson of the National Elections Commission of Liberia (NEC-Liberia), has officially announced her resignation, effective 15 March 2026, ending over twelve years of dedicated service to the nation’s electoral body.

In a letter to President Joseph Boakai, Madam Browne Lansanah cited personal reasons and consultations with her family, expressing a need to rest after more than a decade of steering Liberia’s electoral processes.

She made the announcement during closing remarks at a tour of the ongoing renovation works at NEC headquarters on 9th Street, Sinkor, Monrovia, in the presence of government officials, development partners, and diplomatic representatives.

Having served first as a Commissioner and later as Chairperson, Madam Browne Lansanah played a pivotal role in strengthening Liberia’s electoral governance, promoting transparency, and consolidating democratic institutions.

She described her service as “an honor and privilege” and pledged full support to ensure a seamless transition to her successor.

The NEC lauded her leadership, commitment, and invaluable contributions to credible, free, and fair elections in Liberia, highlighting her enduring legacy in the country’s democratic development.
