Liberia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sara Beysolow Nyanti, today received in audience the newly appointed Honorary Consul General of the Slovak Republic to Liberia, Upjit Singh Sachdeva, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Monrovia.
During the meeting, Minister Nyanti extended warm congratulations to Mr. Sachdeva widely known as “Jeety” on his appointment and expressed appreciation to the Government of the Slovak Republic for strengthening bilateral ties through the establishment of an honorary consulate in Liberia.
The Foreign Minister highlighted the significance of deepening cooperation between Liberia and the Slovak Republic in key areas such as trade, investment, tourism, and cultural exchange.
She emphasized that such collaboration aligns with the government’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, as championed by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr.
In response, Mr. Sachdeva conveyed his gratitude to both the Slovak Government and Minister Nyanti for the confidence and warm reception accorded him.
He pledged to diligently promote the interests of the Slovak Republic in Liberia while fostering mutually beneficial partnerships between the two countries.
Mr. Sachdeva is a prominent entrepreneur, diplomat, and philanthropist.
He currently serves as CEO and Managing Director of Salala Rubber Corporation and Jeety Trading Corporation in Liberia, and oversees international ventures including Jeety Rubber LLC and J&J Investment LLC in the United States operators of global hotel brands such as Holiday Inn Express and Best Western Plus.
Notably, Mr. Sachdeva previously served for over 25 years as Honorary Consul General of India in Liberia, where he significantly contributed to strengthening India, Liberia relations and promoting education and humanitarian initiatives.
His dedication to national development is reflected in his service on the Boards of Trustees of several leading Liberian institutions, including the University of Liberia, Cuttington University, Booker Washington Institute, and AME Zion University.
Mr. Sachdeva has also been recognized with multiple national and international awards, including “Consul General of the Year,” “Businessman of the Year,” and “Humanitarian of the Year,” presented by leading Liberian media institutions.
As a philanthropist, he continues to support education, healthcare, and humanitarian efforts across Liberia, including the donation of ambulances and vital assistance to vulnerable communities.
The appointment of Mr. Sachdeva as Honorary Consul of the Slovak Republic marks a new chapter in Liberia’s diplomatic relations with European nations, and underscores the country’s commitment to expanding its global partnerships.
