The Government of Liberia has announced that it will officially break ground for the long-awaited Monrovia Overpass Bridge this coming September.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, July 8, during the regular press briefing held by the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism (MICAT).

Speaking at the event, Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah confirmed that all necessary preparations and technical processes related to the construction project have been finalized.

According to Minister Piah, the groundbreaking ceremony will mark a historic milestone in Liberia’s infrastructure development agenda.

Among other things, The proposed overpass bridge is part of the government’s broader strategy to reduce traffic congestion in Monrovia, improve urban mobility, and enhance the city’s economic and structural viability.

In addition to the overpass project, Minister Piah also highlighted several other development initiatives currently underway across the country.

He named ongoing road rehabilitation projects in the southeast, energy expansion programs aimed at increasing electricity access, and investments in health and education infrastructure.

The overpass bridge project has been highly publicized and is expected to be a symbol of the government’s commitment to modernizing Liberia’s capital city.

Officials believe it will not only ease daily traffic challenges but also stimulate economic growth by improving transport efficiency.

Meanwhile, Citizens and stakeholders are now eagerly awaiting the September groundbreaking, which is expected to attract national attention and the participation of key government officials, international partners, and members of the diplomatic corps.
