President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has welcomed the decision of the United States Department of State to revise its visa reciprocity schedule for Liberia, extending the validity of key nonimmigrant visas from 12 months to 36 months.

The announcement, released today by the U.S. State Department, confirms that Liberian applicants for B1 (Business), B2 (Tourism), and B1/B2 (Business/Tourism Combination) visas will now be eligible for multiple-entry visas valid for three years, with no reciprocity fee required.

President Boakai described the decision as “a clear demonstration of the strong and enduring partnership between Liberia and the United States, grounded in mutual respect, shared democratic values, and a common vision for progress.”

The decision among other things he stated will help ease travel and reduce administrative burdens for Liberian travelers,
Strengthen business, investment, and educational exchanges

“This new arrangement reflects growing confidence in Liberia’s progress and global engagement,” President Boakai stated.

“It opens new doors for our citizens to explore educational, cultural, and economic opportunities while strengthening our bilateral cooperation with the United States.”

Liberia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Madam Sara Beysolow Nyanti at the same time reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to expanding global mobility for Liberians.

She noted that the Government of Liberia will continue to engage the United States and other international partners to increase opportunities and strengthen mutually beneficial collaboration.

The Boakai administration continues to advance a foreign policy agenda focused on: Enhancing international partnerships,
Facilitating mobility for Liberians and
Expanding global economic and diplomatic opportunities.

Meanwhile, The Government of Liberia expresses its appreciation to the United States Government for this significant and timely gesture, which is expected to facilitate greater collaboration across tourism, business, academia, and cultural exchange.
