The Liberia–European Union (EU) Investment Forum is scheduled to take place in Brussels, Belgium, from February 24–25, 2026, aimed at attracting increased European investment to Liberia and strengthening economic cooperation between the two partners.

The announcement was made on Thursday during the Ministry of Information’s regular press briefing in Monrovia by the European Union Ambassador to Liberia, H.E. Nona Deprez.

Ambassador Deprez said the two-day forum will serve as a high-level strategic platform to showcase Liberia’s investment potential to European governments, development partners, and private-sector investors.

According to her, the forum is designed to position Liberia as an attractive destination for sustainable and responsible investment.
She disclosed that the forum will place strong emphasis on key growth sectors of the Liberian economy, including agriculture, fisheries, infrastructure, and other productive sectors critical to national development and job creation.

These sectors, she noted, offer significant opportunities for value addition, private-sector participation, and long-term economic growth.
Reaffirming the European Union’s commitment to Liberia, Ambassador Deprez described the EU as a long-standing and reliable development partner that continues to support the country across multiple sectors.

Highlighting ongoing EU-supported initiatives, she revealed that the European Union is investing heavily in technical and vocational education, including the construction of technical and vocational training institutions across all 15 counties.

The initiative, she explained, aims to equip young Liberians with practical and marketable skills, enhance employability, and improve household livelihoods nationwide.

Additionally, the EU Ambassador disclosed plans to invest over eight million euros in key infrastructure projects, including the upgrade of the Roberts International Airport (RIA) and the electrification of several county capitals such as Buchanan, Greenville, and Sinoe, among others.

She further noted that the European Union is supporting efforts toward the construction of a coastal highway, as well as initiatives focused on the sustainable management of natural resources, which she emphasized are essential for long-term economic development and environmental protection.

The upcoming Liberia–EU Investment Forum is expected to deepen economic ties between Liberia and its European partners, open new pathways for private-sector investment, and contribute to inclusive and sustainable economic growth across the country.
