The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has received a significant boost
in its fight against drug trafficking and transnational organized crime, thanks
to the donation of two state-of-the-art drug identification devices.
According to the LDEA, the donation was made possible through a partnership
between the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the U.S.
Government, with support from the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law
Enforcement Affairs (INL) in Liberia.
These cutting-edge tools are expected to greatly enhance the agency’s field
operations by allowing officers to quickly and accurately identify a wide range
of narcotics and controlled substances on the spot.
The LDEA emphasized that the improved capabilities will lead to faster drug identification will enable quicker
responses and facilitate timely prosecutions while accurate,
court-admissible results will contribute to more effective convictions.
This support reflects the continued commitment of the UNODC and the U.S.
Government to strengthening Liberia’s capacity to combat drug trafficking,
dismantle criminal networks, and protect communities across the nation.
The LDEA reaffirmed its dedication to safeguarding Liberia from the threats
posed by illegal drug activities.
