The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has intensified efforts to combat drug trafficking in Grand Bassa County, leading to the recent arrest of two individuals in Wee District.
The arrests took place during a routine patrol on Tuesday in the Compound #3 area, highlighting the agency’s ongoing commitment to addressing illegal drug activities in the region.
According to reports, Harlie Johnson, 25, was apprehended in the Happyville Community within Compound #3, where authorities found a substantial quantity of illicit substances.
Johnson was discovered in possession of 91 parcels of kush, a narcotic substance.
During questioning, Johnson claimed he was at the site to smoke cigarettes and that the parcels of kush had been handed to him by an unidentified man.
He reportedly stated that the man told him he would leave some parcels for sale while he went to purchase goods elsewhere.
Johnson has declined to name the individual involved. He is currently in custody at the Compound #3 Police Station pending further investigation.
In a separate incident, Shine Flomo, 22, was arrested during the officers’ routine patrol in the Palm-bush Community.
Flomo was found with nine parcels of kush and is also being held at the police station as investigations continue.
The arrests represent a significant step in the LDEA’s ongoing efforts to curb drug-related crimes in the area.
