Liberians are demanding professional policing following the tragic death of Matthew Mulbah.

One of the lastest groups to join the advocacy campaign is , Success Minor Foundation.

The group who has been advocating for justice and human rights abuse has now called for a transparent Investigation Into Police Actions.

The call for accountability continue to grow after the death of Matthew Mulbah as campaigners are now demanding urgent reforms in law enforcement practices across Liberia.

Following the tragic death of Mulbah, the group’s Chief Executive Officer, Success Minor expressed deep concern over the incident, highlighting the growing erosion of public trust in the Liberia National Police (LNP) and demanding a full, independent investigation into the events leading up to Mulbah’s death.

“The tragic killing of Matthew Mulbah once again raises serious concerns about police conduct, response protocols, and the increasing fear the public feels toward those sworn to protect them”, he re-emphasized.

The Foundation emphasized that police officers are trained from the very beginning of their careers to approach high-risk or volatile situations with caution, intelligence gathering, and tactical discipline.

They pointed to standard operating procedures that prioritize de-escalation, safety, and teamwork, urging law enforcement agencies to recommit to these principles.

“The role of the police is to protect life, maintain order, and ensure justice not to become a source of fear or harm.”

Placing emphasis to police protocol, the Foundation’s boss said pre-arrival intelligence gathering to understand the risks involved before responding; the also named, Tactical arrival methods to avoid escalating tensions and Waiting for backup before entering potentially dangerous scenes as well as scene control and de-escalation using non-violent means before resorting to force.

In a drive to avoid the recurrence, The Foundation called for the formation of an Independent Investigative Committee to review the circumstances of the incident from the initial dispatch communication to the conduct of responding officers and to ensure impartiality and transparency in the handling of the case.

“Justice, fairness, and accountability must prevail for Matthew Mulbah, his family, and the future of policing in Liberia”, Mr. Minor maintained.

At the same time, he call for calm among the public, responsible media reporting, and full cooperation from the police leadership during the investigation process.

As the nation mourns the loss of yet another life in what appears to be a preventable tragedy, advocacy groups and civil society are now demanding not only justice for Matthew Mulbah, but systemic reform to prevent further loss of life at the hands of those tasked with protecting it.
