The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Agriculture, is preparing for the official launch of the 2025 National Agriculture Fair, scheduled to be held in Ganta City, Nimba County, from December 9 to 13.
Speaking Tuesday at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism’s (MICAT) regular press briefing in Monrovia, Agriculture Minister Dr. Alexander Nuetah announced that this year’s fair will be held under the theme: “Empowering Farmers and Enriching the Nation.
”According to Dr. Nuetah, the annual event is designed to celebrate the dedication, innovation, and achievements of Liberian farmers who continue to play a vital role in ensuring national food security and economic stability.
“The Agriculture Fair is not just a celebration, it is a platform for learning, networking, and innovation,” Dr. Nuetah said. “It allows farmers, agribusinesses, and development partners to exchange ideas, showcase their products, and explore new technologies that can transform Liberia’s agricultural landscape.”
The Minister emphasized that the fair forms part of the government’s broader efforts to implement its national development agenda, particularly initiatives aimed at enhancing food security, boosting productivity, and promoting sustainable agricultural growth.
He explained that the five-day event will bring together farmers, cooperatives, private sector actors, donor partners, and international organizations working within Liberia’s agriculture sector.
The fair will feature exhibitions, policy dialogues, product displays, and innovation showcases, highlighting opportunities for investment and collaboration.
Dr. Nuetah reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to empowering smallholder farmers and improving rural livelihoods through programs that strengthen value chains, expand access to markets, and promote climate-resilient farming practices.
“Our goal is to make agriculture a more attractive and profitable venture for Liberians, especially young people and women, so that the sector can truly drive national development,” he added.
The National Agriculture Fair remains one of Liberia’s flagship platforms for recognizing farmers’ contributions and encouraging a collective push toward achieving agricultural self-sufficiency.
With growing attention on food security and rural transformation, this year’s event is expected to attract significant participation and renew national commitment to advancing Liberia’s agricultural potential.
