Former Foreign Minister Dee-Maxwell Kemayah Sr. and former head of the national power theft task force Mary Broh have been sent to the Monrovia Central prison in connection to the alleged mismanagement of a significant donation of relief rice.

Kemayah and Broh’s detention came following the earlier arrest of Henry Williams, former Executive Director of the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA)

The three officials are accused of mismanaging approximately 29,000 bags of rice, a donation intended for disaster victims in Liberia.

The donated rice, valued at more than US$425,000, was part of a humanitarian effort aimed at providing essential aid to vulnerable populations during national emergencies.

The arrests were made by the Assets Recovery Team, which is leading the investigation into the disappearance and alleged misappropriation of the relief supplies.

The investigation, which has captured public attention, seeks to determine the whereabouts of the rice and hold those responsible for its alleged mismanagement accountable.

The case against the former officials is expected to proceed in Criminal Court “C” as further details of the investigation are made public.
