First Touch Sports Academy has now intensified its advocacy campaign against drug and substance abuse across the Country.

Established to promote and empower young talents, the Sports and youth empowerment institution since its existence have championed the advocacy campaign, raising the necessary awareness around the danger of drugs especially amongst its targeted beneficiaries, the young people.

Through its vision Bearer and Chief Executive Officer Nusee Eraser Cooper, First Touch has organized series of awareness activities and Championed advocacy campaign around the negative effect of drugs and substance abuse over the period mainly among the future leaders of Liberia.

Birthed in a youth dominanted community, 12th Street in Sinkor, First Touch CEO believes that more needs to be done to battle what he described as National emergency which is gradually destroying the future leaders of Liberia.

First Touch he pointed out is not just a sports institution but is also preparing future national leaders through capacity building initiatives and advocacy campaign around issues affecting the young people making reference to drugs and substance abuse among others.

Ahead of the National march against drugs abuse, First Touch also as an advocacy body pleged its fullest support for the campaign, “this is a way to show strong solidarity and to demand concrete actions from National leaders and relative authority to act, enough is enough and now is the time for action”, he added.

According to CEO, Nusee Cooper, the manance very worrisome should now claim the attention of all Liberians.

He said it time to put all hands on deck and work in collaboration to tackle the issue.

” Our young people are mainly affected as such, we need a National, robust and practical solution to arrest this situation urgently “, he emphasized.

Nusee who assured the public through the media that his entity will form a part of the national march against drug and substance abuse was also quick to mention the need for serious political will to ensure that the War against drugs is won by all.

“We want to see practical steps from national government, institute stronger laws , empower law and drug enforcement officers as well as recruit more trained and quality officers , pay them well and equip them with the necessary tools in order to lead the process nationwide”, he re-emphasized.

He used the ocassion to warn the young people not to be misled or be carrry away by peer pressure in order to destroy their future.

“Young people, just say no to drugs and safe your future and that of the next generation”, he reechoed.

Young people he stated have the potential in Liberia but need the support, protection and space to work and showcase their skills and talent for the betterment of the society.

Mr. Cooper stressed that if nothing practical is done urgently to collectively wage a war against drugs and substance abuse, the Country will continue to experience challenges.
