The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has intensified its crackdown on
drug trafficking in the southeastern region, with a recent high-profile arrest
highlighting the challenges authorities continue to face.
LDEA River Gee County Commander Richard N. Nango reiterated the agency’s
firm stance against narcotics, stating that the LDEA remains committed to
eliminating drug trafficking and ensuring that repeat offenders are prosecuted
to the fullest extent of the law.
This renewed commitment was demonstrated over the weekend when officers at
the Webbo-Konowroken Checkpoint apprehended 22-year-old Marthaline Doe, a
resident of Maryland County. She was found in possession of 470 wraps of
compressed marijuana, seven strips of Tramadol, and other marijuana-infused
products.
The estimated street value of the confiscated drugs is approximately LRD
70,500, or around USD 356.
Doe is currently in custody at the LDEA’s headquarters in Fish Town, River
Gee County. Investigators confirmed that she has a record of similar offenses
and has been arrested multiple times in Maryland County on drug-related
charges.
Her arrest underscores the persistent nature of drug trafficking in
Liberia’s border regions and the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to
intercept narcotics and dismantle local distribution networks.
As operations continue across the Southeast, LDEA officials have reaffirmed
their dedication to protecting communities from the dangers of illicit
substances and holding offenders accountable.
