The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has appointed Dr. Pauline Weah Mehdeh as the new County Health Officer of River Gee County.
The appointment follows the recall of Dr. Masuah T. Kokro, who had served on the county health team for less than year.
Dr. Mehdeh, a highly experienced public health professional with a strong background in healthcare management, has been selected to lead the county’s health system, succeeding Dr. Kokro.
The Ministry of Health highlighted Dr. Mehdeh’s extensive expertise in the health sector, expressing confidence that her innovative ideas and perspective will play a vital role in addressing the healthcare challenges in River Gee.
Additionally, Dedesco Doebia Gweh has been appointed as the County Health Administrator, while Saah Kundufarmah will serve as the new Health Team Accountant, taking over from Shem Jallayu.
Both Gweh and Kundufarmah also bring considerable experience to the River Gee County Health Team.
All three appointees, Dr. Mehdeh, Gweh, and Kundufarmah, have received their official appointment letters from the ministry and are expected to begin their roles shortly.
The community, including health workers, has reacted positively to these new appointments, expressing hope for the future of healthcare accessibility in River Gee County.
For half a year, the River Gee County Health Team has been functioning without this leadership.
This transition comes at a critical moment as Liberia faces challenges related to Mpox, which has put considerable pressure on local healthcare resources and altered how the community seeks medical care.
The Ministry of Health is dedicated to providing support to all counties, including River Gee, to bolster their healthcare systems.
Dr. Mehdehโs appointment as County Health Officer signifies an optimistic new direction for the countyโs health services, with the expectation of enhanced healthcare delivery and improved health outcomes for residents.
River Gee County consists of six health districts, each equipped with multiple health facilities.
