In a major stride toward sustainable development, Deenam Biomass Company has
signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the leadership of
Grand Bassa County to operate in Liberia’s renewable energy sector.

The agreement, signed on May 15, sets the stage for the company to convert
rubber tree waste into biomass fuel a move aimed at boosting the local economy
and supporting Liberia’s green energy goals.

The initiative is expected to create over 1,000 jobs, with the first phase
alone providing employment for 500 residents, mostly from Grand Bassa County.

Speaking at a press briefing following the signing, Deenam Biomass Media
& Communication Consultant Maxwell Vah emphasized the initiative’s
transformative potential.

“This partnership will not only encourage environmentally responsible
practices but also empower small-scale rubber farmers by turning redundant
trees into a valuable energy resource,” he said.

By focusing on biomass fuel derived from agricultural waste, Deenam Biomass
aims to support Liberia’s ambition of becoming a regional leader in sustainable
energy. The company plans to launch operations between September and October
2025, with stakeholders pledging to ensure that the economic benefits reach
local farmers and communities.

This historic agreement signals Liberia’s increasing commitment to renewable
energy, with Grand Bassa County emerging as a frontrunner in the country’s
evolving green economy.
