The County Agriculture Officer of River Gee County, ย Jasper Sheriff Tweh has launched a new agricultural monitoring program aimed at helping local farmers address persistent challenges and improve their productivity.
The initiative, which began in April 2025, targets all six agricultural
districts in the county. It focuses on enhancing farming techniques through
on-site visits that offer tailored support in areas such as crop health, soil
management, pest control, and sustainable practices.
According to Officer Tweh, local farmers face numerous obstacles, including
limited access to modern farming tools and methods, as well as the growing
impact of climate change. โThis program is about providing hands-on support to
our farmers,โ he stated. โWe want to help them adopt more effective,
climate-resilient techniques.โ
Farmers like Marcus Gray welcome the initiative, seeing it as an opportunity
to boost yields and strengthen the countyโs agricultural economy. โWith the
right guidance, we can do much more,โ Gray said.
The program also promotes collaboration between farmers, government
institutions, and non-governmental organizations to create a more sustainable
agricultural ecosystem.
Set to run for three months, the program may be extended or modified based
on feedback from the farming communities. Officer Tweh is encouraging all local
farmers to take full advantage of the initiative and share their experiences to
help refine its approach.
