The President of the Confederation of African Football Dr. Patrice Motsepe has disclosed plans by CAF to help increase financial resources to African football development.
According to him, they are discussing a private partnership that will eventually see 1 billion investment into the game on the continent.
The funding he told the gathering at its congress in Nairobi, Kenya will go towards youth competitions, academies , the promotion of boys and girls participating in competitions in Africa, ensuring that these competitions are world class.
The youth he stated are the foundation for the future, and developing their talents is one of the focus areas of CAF.
He acknowledged that Africa has enormous talents but historically it has not been able to nurture it something he emphasized is also one of the focuses of CAF in a move to work in identifying and developing these talents for the betterment of the continent.
Dr. Motsepe also disclosed plans by CAF to give 8m dollars each to clubs in Africa.
The support he stated will also go towards transportation and other logistical issues that have been challenges affecting African clubs over the period.
The CAF boss stressed that the quality of African National Teams and Clubs is improving , pointing at huge progress and advances unlike before.
At the same time, President Motsepe emphasized that his administration’s goal is to see African National Teams and Clubs compete highly on the global scene, especially with bigger Footballing Nations and Clubs, respectively.
