Bong County Senator Prince Kermue Moye Sr. on Friday concluded a high-level consultative meeting with Yin Chengwu, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Liberia, as part of renewed efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation and unlock development opportunities for Bong County.
The meeting, held at the Chinese Embassy near Monrovia, centered on expanding collaboration in critical sectors including education, investment, and private sector growth.
According to reports, discussions focused on practical pathways to translate Liberia–China relations into tangible benefits for local communities.
Senator Moye used the engagement to advocate for increased scholarship opportunities for students from Bong County, emphasizing that access to quality education remains a cornerstone for sustainable development.
He noted that empowering young people through international educational exchange can significantly contribute to the county’s long-term progress.
The Bong Senator also stressed the need to attract more Chinese investment to the county, particularly in sectors capable of stimulating economic growth, generating employment, and improving infrastructure.
He underscored that stronger Liberia–China ties could play a transformative role in advancing development initiatives at both national and local levels.
During the meeting, Senator Moye further raised concerns regarding the operations of China Union Mining Company in Bong Mines, Fuamah District.
He called for enhanced corporate social responsibility and deeper engagement with affected communities, stressing that concession companies must make meaningful contributions to the welfare and development of residents.
The engagement forms part of ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at fostering mutually beneficial partnerships between Liberia and China while ensuring that development initiatives directly impact local communities.
