The Liberia National Police (LNP) Bong County Detachment have announced a series of new security initiatives, citing a significant drop in criminal activities across the county.
During a media engagement in Bong County, Administrative Officer Chief Superintendent of Police Foster F. Varney and Chief of Operations Chris N. Gono outlined strategies aimed at strengthening public safety and maintaining law and order.
The officers attributed the reported decline in crime to improved policing strategies and the adoption of community-based approaches designed to better protect lives and property.
According to them, they have also enhanced collaboration with other security agencies, including the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), to tackle drug abuse and youth-related crimes.
The police revealed that joint operations have led to increased control over areas previously known for criminal activity, particularly “Kankpala” in Gbarnga.
The location, situated on property owned by the Methodist Church, had reportedly served as a hub for illicit activities involving disadvantaged youth.
Police say recent interventions in the area have restored calm and significantly reduced criminal behavior.
The Bong Police authorities disclosed that earlier restrictions on the nighttime movement of motorcyclists have been relaxed, citing an improved and stable security environment.
They have further reassured residents that the LNP remains committed to sustaining peace through proactive policing and continued community engagement across Bong County.
