By Matalay Kollie The Solidarity and Trust for a New Day (STAND), a prominent civil society organization in Liberia, has sharply criticized Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman for recent statements regarding the upcoming “Enough is Enough” protest scheduled for July 17, 2025. STAND described Coleman’s claims as deceptive and misleading, aimed at undermining citizens’ rights to peaceful assembly. In a statement, lead campaigner Mulbah Morlu emphasized that police threats would not deter the planned peaceful protests. He accused Col. President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has made new appointments in government affecting the Local Government of Margibi County and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry respectively. Those appointed are: O. Jay Morris, Jr. Superintendent, Margibi County at theocal government level why Miantor Sei Gbatu was nominated as –Inspector General at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. When confirmed, he will replace Dorh Cooper. These appointments, where applicable, are subject to confirmation by the Liberian Senate. The House of Representatives Joint Committee on Compliance and Concessions Review has adjourned its hearing with ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) following the company’s failure to provide key documents and clarify issues surrounding Liberia’s equity stake. During the hearing, AML formally apologized to the Committee for its initial failure to honor the scheduled appearance. In response, the Committee accepted the apology and granted pardon, allowing the proceedings to continue.
