Liberia’s newly appointed Director of the Witness and Whistleblower Protection Program, Atty. Tecklo Maxwell Grigsby II, has pledged an unwavering commitment to protecting individuals who provide crucial information in criminal and corruption-related cases.
In a public statement released on his official Facebook page, Atty. Grigsby II said his administration will execute its mandate with the “highest level of professionalism and integrity,” noting that safeguarding truth-tellers is vital to strengthening accountability and rebuilding public confidence in the justice system.
“We approach every responsibility with an unwavering commitment to be at our best, and the new role to manage and administer Liberia’s Witness and Whistleblower Protection Program will not be an exception,” Director Grigsby II declared.
He stressed that Liberians and all residents must have the freedom to speak out without fear of retaliation.
“It’s our collective right to demand a society where people can disclose information or provide testimonies in cases involving crimes and abuse of discretion, whether in public or private service, without threats, harassment, or intimidation,” he added.
The Witness and Whistleblower Protection Program forms part of the government’s broader efforts to enhance transparency, curb corruption, and promote a safer environment for reporting wrongdoing.
Stakeholders believe the initiative could significantly improve public cooperation with investigations and advance the rule of law.
Atty. Grigsby II has called for strong national collaboration, noting that the active involvement of citizens is crucial to the program’s success.
“This is possible, and we solicit the support of all Liberians and residents in Liberia,” he said.
The Director also expressed gratitude to those who have already shown confidence in his leadership.“To those who have expressed confidence in our work, we say thank you,” he noted.
“And to those who doubt our ability to excellently deliver on this task, watch out for us very soon.”
According to the new director, the Witness and Whistleblower Protection Program will roll out its first set of strategic activities in the coming weeks.
