The Plenary of the Liberian Senate has unanimously concurred with the House of Representatives on three (3) Acts to create the Tappita Statutory District Vocational Training Institute, Paynesville Community College and Wee Statutory District Vocational Training Institute.
Plenaryโs decision was triggered by reports from the Senate Joint Committee on Education & Public Administration and Judiciary, Human Rights, Claims and Petitions, recommending to the August Body for passage into law, these Acts for the enhancement of the Countryโs educational sector, as well as to buttress governmentโs decentralization agenda.
These Acts, when signed into law, following endorsement by the President of Liberia, will create these institutions in Tappita Statutory District, Lower Nimba County, Wee Statutory District, Grand Bassa County and Paynesville, Montserrado County โ Republic of Liberia.
Meanwhile, the President Pro Tempore of the Liberian Senate, Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence has stressed the need for Senators to utilize their oversight responsibility to ensure funds are allotted for the effective operations of these institutions.
When fully operational, these institutions are expected to play a critical role in equipping young people with practical skills, thereby enhancing job creation and economic development.
