𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗮𝘂𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆-𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴

The House Committee on Elections and Inauguration, chaired by Sinoe County Electoral District #1 Representative Thomas Romeo Quioh, has successfully concluded an Interagency-Legislative Peer Review Meeting on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.

The meeting brought together key national stakeholders in Liberia’s data governance and electoral framework.

The high-level technical session was convened to foster collaboration and review ongoing efforts in data coordination and demographic synchronization among critical institutions, including the National Elections Commission (NEC), the Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS), and the National Identification Registry (NIR).

Key thematic areas addressed during the meeting included:Technical Review of Current Data Coordination and Alignment Efforts, Demographic Data Synchronization Collaboration Framework,National Statistical System Readiness and
Interagency Data Sharing and Protocol Mechanisms.

Chairman Hon. Quioh emphasized the importance of the peer review process, stating that the engagement is part of the committee’s legislative oversight responsibility.

The committee believes that improved interagency collaboration and harmonized data systems are crucial for accurate voter registration, national planning, and transparency in democratic governance.

We are examining legal mandates, role clarity, capacity gaps, and institutional strengthening needs to determine where legislative support—whether through budget, policy reform, or statutory amendment—is necessary to enhance coordination among national institutions.”
During the meeting, stakeholders presented detailed updates on their respective institutional activities. The NIR was represented by Executive Director Andrew Peters, while LISGIS was represented by Director General Richard Ngafuan and his deputies. Both institutions delivered comprehensive PowerPoint presentations, outlining their data systems, ongoing challenges, and opportunities for alignment with national governance and electoral processes.

The committee believes that improved interagency collaboration and harmonized data systems are crucial for accurate voter registration, national planning, and transparency in democratic governance.

The House Committee on Elections and Inauguration will compile the findings and recommendations from the review meeting into a report to be submitted to Plenary for further legislative action.
