President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has expressed concern over the poor state and conditions at the Monrovia Central Prison.

He made the remarks Friday when he toured the facility of the prison compound in central Monrovia.

As a means of taking action to help address the situation, the Liberian leader disclosed plans by his government to help improve facilities of prisons across Liberia.

Speaking further he narrtaed that people who are providing health services for the inmates also look like they are in prison, something he described as sad and needs to change.

“This does not represent where human beings should be, and we will make the necessary interventions in the soonest time possible,” he re-emphasized.

He also assured the gathering that interventions will affect the water system and health, among others.

At the same time, the Liberian leader granted executive Clemency to seventy- five inmates nationwide.

President Boakai speaking more also encouraged them to go into the larger society to make an impact.

Many of those set free were men, women, especially those for lesser offenses.

Meanwhile, President Boakai put smiles on the faces of the inmates when he provided independence day package to them.

He provided food and non food items to them.
