President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has, by proclamation, declared Thursday, November 6, 2025, as National Thanksgiving Day, to be observed throughout the Republic as a national holiday.

According to the Executive Mansion, the proclamation calls on all Liberians and foreign residents, along with priests, imams, bishops, pastors, clergies, and religious organizations, to gather in their various places of worship to offer praise and thanksgiving to Almighty God for His continued protection and blessings upon the nation.

The declaration is in line with an Act of the National Legislature, passed in 1883, which designates the first Thursday in November each year as National Thanksgiving Day.

The presidential proclamation noted that it is befitting for the nation and its people to set aside a day to express gratitude and adoration to God for His grace, mercy, and providence, as well as for the preservation of life across the country.

It further recalled that the people of Liberia have historically given thanks to God for His manifold blessings and tender mercies, particularly for His protection in times of peace, disaster, and other national challenges.

National Thanksgiving Day remains one of Liberia’s oldest public holidays, reflecting the country’s long tradition of faith and national gratitude.
