In a significant move to boost Liberia’s tourism industry, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has appointed Princess Eva Cooper as Director General and Dogba K. Norris, Jr. as Deputy Director General for Planning, Research, and Development of the newly established Liberia National Tourism Authority (LNTA).

The appointments, announced by the Executive Mansion, take immediate effect and follow the recent enactment of the 2025 Liberia National Tourism Act, which officially created the LNTA under Title 30 of the Public Authorities Law.

The establishment of the LNTA represents a critical step in the government’s broader effort to develop the country’s tourism sector an area seen as having vast potential for job creation, cultural promotion, and economic diversification.

The Authority will be tasked with implementing national strategies to improve tourism infrastructure, preserve heritage sites, and position Liberia as an attractive destination for international visitors and investors alike.

According to the Executive Mansion, the newly appointed leadership is expected to spearhead strategic planning, research, and development initiatives that align with the Boakai administration’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development an acronym standing for Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation, and Tourism.

President Boakai expressed strong confidence in Cooper and Norris, stating that their leadership will be pivotal in delivering on the Authority’s mandate and driving sustainable growth in the tourism sector.

“The tourism sector is a vital pillar for Liberia’s future, and with the right structure and leadership in place, we can unlock tremendous opportunities for our people,” Boakai said in a statement.

The appointments signal a renewed focus on institutional development within Liberia’s tourism industry, as the country looks to attract both regional and global interest in its rich natural landscapes, cultural history, and untapped eco-tourism potential.
