The Ministry of Youth and Sports Liberia has announced a scholarship opportunity for 100 motorcyclists who excelled in the Motor Vocational Training Center (MVTC) entrance examination conducted in October 2025.

According to the Ministry, the beneficiaries emerged as top performers from the competitive test and have been selected to participate in the Skills for Work Accelerated Program (SWAP), an initiative designed to equip young people with practical, employable skills.

Authorities have urged all qualified candidates to report promptly to the MVTC campus to begin their registration process. Registration officially opened on April 6, 2026, and will run through April 15, 2026, with activities structured around specific trade disciplines.

In a major policy shift, the Ministry disclosed that all material and uniform costs for the selected participants will be fully covered.

The move is expected to ease the financial burden on beneficiaries and expand access to technical and vocational training opportunities.

“The Ministry remains committed to empowering young people through skills development and creating sustainable pathways for employment and self-reliance,” the statement noted.

The SWAP initiative forms part of the government’s broader strategy to tackle youth unemployment by promoting technical and vocational education, particularly among informal sector workers such as commercial motorcyclists.
