At a well attended ceremony, the Embassy of Morrocco accredited near Monrovia celebrated successfully the 26th Anniversary of the Throne Day.
The very historic and unique Day to the North African Country is a public holiday in Morocco, punctuated by commemorations of the day of the king’s formal accession to the throne.
The first celebration was held in 1933 to mark the accession of Mohammed V in 1927.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Ambassador of Morrocco to Liberia Lahoucine Rahmouni thanked the government of Liberia for the cordial rationship continue to exist between Morrocco and Liberia especially since the opening of its embassy in November 2024.
Morocco and Liberia’s relationship which dated back as the 60s is said to be making making significant impact.
“We share with Liberia, love , partnership, strategies among others”, he added.
Outlining some of the latest interventions, Amb. Rahmouni emphasized the signing of a road map agreement in 2024 in New York between Morrocco and Liberia which he described as a great step in the setting the tune for a way forward for development .
As part of the agreement and more, he told the gathering that they are now working on the implementations of these plans .
He placed emphasis on sound economy mainly brining on board private sector and the business Community.
Also speaking at the ceremony was Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister for International Cooperation, Ibrahim Al- Bakri Nyei who described Morocco as a trusted friend and true partner to Liberia.
Paying tribute to King Mohammed VI at the Throne Day ceremony, he stated the astute Moroccan leader demonstrates his unwavering dedication to the inclusive development as well as regional cooperation and the upliftment of the people of Morrocco.
His leadership he stressed has also help transformed the Kingdom into a pillar of stability, innovation, modernization and diplomacy and not only in North Africa but across the continent and beyond.
The Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister said the partnership has risen through Cooperation and not competition.
Deputy Minister Nyei at the same time commended the Moroccan Ambassador to Liberia for his proactive step taken since the introduction of the embassy in Liberia.
“We are seeing the reality and we appreciate you especially the most recent fertilizer research in Liberia “, he added.
He at the same time highlighted Morrocco’s support and contributions to Liberia in the area of Education, Healthcare, Agriculture, and renewable energy among others.
As the diplomatic relationship moves from strength to strength, Minister Nyei reechoed Liberia’s commitment and cooperation to its trusted friend and true partner in the best interest of the peoples of the two Countries.
