The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) has launched a new Five-Year Strategic Plan (2026–2030), signaling a renewed national commitment to promoting integrity, accountability, and transparency across all sectors of the country.
The official launch took place on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the Royal Grand Hotel in Monrovia, bringing together government officials, international partners, and civil society representatives.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Augustine Konneh, Senior Advisor to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, officially launched the plan and reaffirmed the government’s support for the LACC’s mandate to combat corruption.
Cllr. Alexandra K. Zoe, Executive Chairperson of the Commission, said the new plan captures the LACC’s achievements, challenges, and priorities for the next five years. She disclosed that the Legislature is currently reviewing the Commission’s request to establish a Specialized Anti-Corruption Court, expected to be realized during the implementation period.
Describing the plan as “a call to action for all Liberians,” LACC Vice Executive Chairperson Mr. Ernest R. Hughes said it represents a national roadmap toward a corruption-free Liberia, grounded in collaboration, courage, and collective responsibility.
He also expressed gratitude to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), diplomatic missions, and international partners for their continued technical and moral support, noting that the launch marks “the beginning of a new chapter defined by courage, collaboration, and unwavering resolve.”
In remarks on behalf of the United Nations, Mr. Aliou Mamadou Dia, UN Resident Representative, congratulated the LACC leadership and hailed Liberia’s recent progress on the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), improving from 25 to 27 points and moving from 145th to 135th place out of 180 countries.
He described this as “a historic breakthrough, the first notable progress in many years.” Mr. Dia, however, cautioned that corruption remains a major obstacle to Liberia’s development, urging continued united and determined efforts to eradicate it.
The event was attended by representatives of the Government of Liberia, development partners, civil society organizations, and integrity institutions, all reaffirming their support for the country’s anti-corruption drive.
