Golden Touch Rejects Allegations, Reaffirms Commitment to Quality Care for Minnesotans

By: Julius Konton

Golden Touch Health Care LLC is pushing back against key allegations and characterizations contained in an investigative report by MPR News and APM Reports, reaffirming its commitment to providing quality care and support to Minnesotans with significant medical, behavioral and physical needs.

In a statement issued August 21, Golden Touch expressed sympathy to families who have lost loved ones while emphasizing that the company has been serving Minnesota residents since 2017 and remains focused on its core mission: providing care, supervision and support to vulnerable members of the community.

The company said it continually works to comply with Minnesota’s assisted-living laws and regulations and strongly defended the professionalism of its directors, caregivers and nursing staff.

Golden Touch also rejected suggestions that the involvement of Liberian businessman and National Port Authority Managing Director Sekou Dukuly in the company was improper.

“There is nothing improper, unlawful, or fraudulent about Mr. Dukuly’s involvement with Golden Touch,” the company stated, challenging what it described as inaccurate or misleading implications in the investigative report.

The company’s response comes as questions surrounding several Minnesota group homes connected to Dukuly continue to attract regulatory and public attention.

MPR News and APM Reports reported that companies associated with Dukuly had been involved with 24 Minnesota group homes over roughly a decade and received approximately $36 million in taxpayer-funded payments for care services.

Golden Touch Health Care reportedly received slightly more than $4 million between 2022 and 2024, based on Minnesota Open Checkbook data cited by the investigation.

Golden Touch, however, maintains that financial figures and business associations should be considered within the broader context of the services provided to residents and the responsibilities carried by its professional care teams.

The company said its directors, caregivers and nurses work throughout the year to ensure residents receive care and supervision, particularly individuals living with mental illnesses, physical disabilities and other complex needs.

Golden Touch further emphasized that its operations have existed within Minnesota’s regulated health-care environment for years, with state records listing the company in official health-facility directories.

Rather than allowing controversy to define its work, company management said it intends to remain focused on the people at the center of its mission, Minnesotans who depend on reliable care and support.

The company also called for its operations and leadership to be assessed on accurate facts and applicable laws rather than implications it considers misleading.

As scrutiny continues, Golden Touch says its priority remains unchanged: protecting the dignity, safety and well-being of the people entrusted to its care while maintaining professional standards and regulatory compliance.
